Event Details

According to a recent Pew Study, only about one third of people under 30 definitely plan to participate in the 2010 census.

This is the case, despite the fact the census will be used by employers to decide whether to locate jobs in Philadelphia, by businesses to decide whether to open new stores and restaurants in our neighborhoods, and by government to decide where to locate new housing and to improve infrastructure.

Please join us and some of the City’s premier leaders to learn more about the census and to discuss the barriers young people might face attempting to participate.

When: Thursday, February 18th, 6:00pm - 8:00pm

Where: Mayor’s Reception Room, 2nd floor City Hall

Panel:

The Honorable Vanessa Lowery Brown (D-190), Pennsylvania House of Representatives

Sharmain Matlock-Turner, President/CEO, Greater Philadelphia Urban Affairs Coalition

Duane Bumb, Senior Deputy Director of Commerce, City of Philadelphia

Moderated by: Kate Houstoun

*We will continue the conversation after the event over drinks at American Pub, 1500 Market Street, Centre Square Building, Concourse Level.
